I love digging into my family's past. I've been bitten by the ancestry bug and I cannot stop! I recently found this photo among my family's old photos, mainly with my Mom's "Jasper" photos. I think that one of the men in the photo could be my great, great grandfather, David Newton Jasper. However, I am unsure if these soldiers are from the Civil War, and if so, which side? What rank were these men? I am on the search for answers!

I found your comment on my post about Venice, FL. Yes, I do remember where the banyan tree was (kind of) it is located in downtown Venice, on the road that heads east-west out to the Jetty. Hope that helps! There are actually SEVERAL banyan trees, not just one, and it is amazing! :)
