Whole30 day 1 review

I did it!  I finished my first day on Whole 30!  Honestly, I didn't think I was going to get through it. Don't get me wrong, the food was fine..I enjoyed everything I ate.  However, the way I felt through the day was downright sucky.  I had a lot of hunger pains, though I know I probably really wasn't hungry.  My mind also thought about food ALL DAY.  Then I tortured myself at night by watching "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives"... I don't recommend doing that when you feel like you're starving!  Seeing all this food that I can't eat was torture.  I eventually turned the channel to "My 600 pound life".  This show gives me inspiration.  The challenges that these people face are huge.  If they can do it, I can do it!

I honestly think the worst part of day 1 was the headache.  I came down with a nagging headache in the evening.  Around dinner time.  I tried to eat a little more protein, as suggested by someone on FB, to see if that would help, but it didn't.  I did end up in bed earlier than normal.  Day 2 I will try to drink more water, and see if it's a hydration issue.  But I do read that the headache is normal :/

I didn't post what I had for dinner last night, so hear it is.  I grilled chicken for the entire family.. naked.  (The chicken, not me.. lol)  I still need to get a handle on the spice thing.  They had mac n cheese w/broccoli, and I tried roasting some sliced sweet potato and zucchini.  Wasn't too bad, but I need more practice on cooking sweet potato!  Also had some banana and pineapple.

Taking Charge!

Once again, it's been quite some time since I've posted last.  I do plan on posting much more often now, as I will need to have an outsource.  I've decided to join the bandwagon, and participate in the Whole30 diet.  This is HUGE for me, as my daily diet has gotten way off track, and is anything but healthy.  I have gained so much weight and overall, just don't feel good.  Body image is bad, physical feeling is bad.  I've got to do something, and NOW.  I am not expecting to stay on the whole 30 forever, but I am hoping that it will help me jumpstart healthy eating, and teach me to think about food differently.  Oh yeah, and to lose a little bit of weight in the process.

Figuring out what to eat, and not getting bored, will be challenging.  There are many resources online, and I'm looking into them.  I've also found a very helpful Facebook group.  Have already found lots of ideas from there.

So today is DAY 1

Breakfast:  2 hardfried eggs, seasoned with salt and pepper, 1 small banana, 1 half an avacado, and 1 radish (only for some crunch).  I also had a cup of hot green tea.  Unsweetened, of course!

Breakfast was good, and filling, though an hour later my cravings started up.  I would have killed for a doughnut!  I stayed true, as I know it was probably all in my head!

Lunch:  1 clementine, brussel sprouts and 6 shrimp.  I cooked the brusselsprouts and the shrimp in the oven, together.   I drizzled with olive oil, and seasoned with salt, pepper, parsley, and some chili powder.  Squeezed a bit of a lime overtop before I ate.  DELICIOUS!

I did what I don't want to do, and planned my lunch as I was grocery shopping.  But I'm new to this, and there's a lot to learn.  I need to do more research and be creative with my meals.  I hope to post here every day on what I eat!

Until tomorrow!
